How to cook it

  1. Warm the olive oil in a pot and cook the garlic and rosemary until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. Stir in the tomato paste and cook 1 minute more.

  3. Add the chickpeas and vegetable broth, bring to a simmer, and cook 12 minutes.

  4. Mash about a third of the chickpeas against the side of the pot to thicken the broth.

  5. Stir in the ditalini and simmer until tender, about 10 minutes, adding a splash of water if it thickens too much.

  6. Season with salt and serve hot, drizzled with a little more olive oil.
