Ubla Chana Nashta (Boiled Chickpea Breakfast Bowl)
Ubla Chana Nashta (Boiled Chickpea Breakfast Bowl) is North Indian home cooking, eaten at breakfast. On the plate it is the dish at the centre. Below is what usually sits beside it, what it does and does not contain, and what else to cook once you have made it.
Ingredients
- 2 cups boiled white chickpeas (kabuli chana)
- 1 small, chopped onion
- 1 small, chopped tomato
- 1/2 chopped cucumber
- 1 chopped green chilies
- 1/2 tsp chaat masala
- 1/4 tsp roasted cumin powder
- 1 lemon
- 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
- 1/4 tsp salt
How to cook it
- Drain the boiled chickpeas well and tip them into a mixing bowl.
- Add the finely chopped onion, tomato, cucumber, and green chili.
- Sprinkle in the chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, and salt.
- Squeeze the lemon over everything and toss well to combine.
- Scatter the cilantro on top and serve right away in bowls, while the chickpeas are still a little warm if you boiled them fresh that morning.
