How to cook it

  1. Marinate the chicken in the yogurt with half the garam masala, cumin, turmeric, ginger, and garlic for at least 20 minutes.

  2. Sear the chicken in a hot skillet until charred at the edges, about 6 minutes, then set aside.

  3. Melt the butter in the pan and cook the onion until soft, 6 minutes, then add the remaining spices, ginger, and garlic and cook 1 minute.

  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes and simmer 10 minutes, then blend smooth if you like.

  5. Add the cream and the seared chicken and simmer until the chicken is cooked and the sauce is rich, about 12 minutes.

  6. Serve over basmati rice cooked according to the package.
