How to cook it

  1. Rinse the basmati rice until the water runs clear, then soak 15 minutes and drain.

  2. Heat the ghee in a pot and let the cumin seeds and bay leaf sizzle until fragrant.

  3. Add the rice, water, and salt, bring to a boil, then cover and cook on low until tender, about 12 minutes.

  4. Rest 5 minutes, fluff gently with a fork, and serve.
